Hwitmearum: Home
Hwitmearum is the Oxfordshire branch of Regia Anglorum and operates within the county boundaries as defined within the Domesday Book. We recreate the life and times of the Dark Ages from 850-1100AD, with predominantly a Saxon bias, however we do have a developing Viking interest. The group was set up in October 2005 by two people that had been members of Regia for a number of years via groups based in Canterbury and Swansea. |
We organise training practices in both Reading and Oxford so that group members and friends can learn how to use the various weapons safely and effectively. Kit-making and craft training sessions are also occasionally arranged, sometimes in conjunction with other groups. In addition members have the opportunity to take part in military and living history shows around the country, to be involved with film work as extras for historically based productions and to help in the creation of a Saxon manorial burgh known as Wychurst. |
